The BLACK BOWLS have been traveling alot less this year due to health issues for both Mom and myself.  Mom sent the BLACK BOWLS back to me during this year, but for some unknown reason, I did not record the event and neither one of us can remember what the story was when Mom had them delivered to me earlier this year.  See what happens when you get older!!   Black Bowls Saga by Joan Cook   2008 Continued   NOVEMBER 2008 I knew that it has been long enough time since the BLACK BOWLS have been returned that I figured I would catch Mom off guard pretty easily.  So I put my thinking cap on and decided they had to go back in time for Halloween.  So I found a lighted Styrofoam pumpkin at Walmart and marked the bottom of the pumpkin with the top side of the BLACK BOWLS.  Cut the pumpkin to fit the BLACK BOWLS inside the pumpkin so that I could fill the inside with candy along with the BLACK BOWLS sitting in the bottom.  That way, when Mom lifts the pumpkin up, the BLACK BOWLS will plop out in their glory! Believe me when I tell you that I inherited my creative ornery streak from both my Mom and Dad.  Mom received the package on November 1 instead of Halloween Day, but the effects should still be the same.  Somehow Mom could not get the top of the box open, so she opened the box from the bottom.  When she saw the bottom of the pumpkin light cover, she said it listed something about fuse.  She said that she was not able to figure out what the item in the box was.    When she lifted up the pumpkin, all the BLACK BOWLS and candy spilled out!  Mom said, “THAT WAS TRICKY!”  Then said, “ Now I gotta worry my head about those Black bowls!”     DECEMBER 2008 As I was creating this new BLACK BOWLS website, I had a hunch that the BLACK BOWLS were sitting underneath my Christmas tree.  Two days before Christmas we decided to open our gifts from each other in from the the computer web camera.   There was one box about the size of a cereal box and had no name tag on who the gift was for.  So I asked my Mom if these were the BLACK BOWLS and she ignored me.  Hmmmmm.  I laughed and decided to get it over with.  The wrapping paper exposed a Cheerio ceral box and I knew it had to be them!   My niece, Heidi captured the moment with the video camera as you can see in the picture to the right.  I told Mom that this would be the last chapter of the BLACK BOWLS for 2008, but then again, I could overnight the package back to her.   She said “OH NO!”  She would overnight them right back to me.  We could possibly have another 5 chapters before the end of the year.  Who knows!!
